Member tags and custom properties help you organize your membership list to fit your Nation's unique needs. Use tags to group (or 'segment') members for document sharing and voting events, and add custom properties to capture information that's important to your community.

Membership Tags
Tags can be used to filter members or to segment portions of your membership list for different functions, such as voting or document sharing. Tags can be added or removed from members individually or in bulk to multiple members.
When to use membership tags
Membership tags are best used for filtering, or for member segmentation for features such as voting or document sharing.
If the tag is related to the member, then you can attach it to their profile; e.g. a member lives on 'reserve 3' so you could add a 'reserve-3' tag to their profile. You could then have a community voting event with multiple issues (ballots), where a single issue is only available to those with the tag 'reserve-3'.

Please allow a few minutes for the members' tags to be updated.
Using Tags to Configure Voting Ballots
Tags can be used to allow or disallow voters from seeing and voting on a specific ballot.
e.g. A vote is taking place in which there are 2 issues (or ballots):
- The first ballot is a vote for the men's council members
- The second ballot is a vote for the women's council members
The two issues can be contained in the same voting event. By using tags to segment the membership list, you can configure voter eligibility for each issue (ballot). The first issue has been configured to only allow voters with the member tag of 'male-identifying', the second ballot 'female-identifying'. By using tags to segment voters, only those with the correct tag can vote on the issue with the tag attached.
**Please note: It is best to use a single tag per ballot issue as multiple tags per issue means the voter MUST have all the tags, not just one.
