When uploading a membership or voters list to OneFeather, it's important to ensure your file is formatted correctly for our system. A frequent problem is an incompatible date format, which can cause an error on upload. To adjust the date column, just follow the steps outlined below.
Please Note: Excel might appear slightly different based on your operating system or software version.
Formatting the Date of Birth column in Excel
- Open your Excel document. Highlight the column that contains birthdates.
- Select Data from the top menu bar options.
- Select Text to Columns from Data options.
- Click Next twice.
- In Column Data Format, select Date.
- Select the format that currently matches the dates in the document. (for eg. day-month-year)
- Select Finish.
Note: The document will appear unchanged, and that is expected.
- Click Next twice.
- Go back to Home in the top menu bar options.
- Select the drop down menu input that says General (number format).
- Select More Number Formats.
- Select Date from the left panel.
- Select the format that says the month in text with a 4-digit year. For eg. March 14, 1980.
- Select OK.
- Select the drop down menu input that says General (number format).
-
Save your file.
Note: If your file is not currently in the .CSV format, select Save As and pick the .CSV (comma separated values) file format.
You can now upload your CSV to OneFeather.
